The Mistal Bed & Breakfast is situated high in the South Pennines, home to television programmes "Where the Heart is" and many of the "Summer Wine" locations. 900ft above sea level and set in one acre of landscaped gardens, The Mistal enjoys fabulous panoramic views over the Colne Valley, an area of natural outstanding beauty and a wealth of history. Completed in 2004 to a very high standard, our guests enjoy the single storey accommodation with its many superior fixtures, furnishings and the latest individually controlled under floor heating. Accredited July 2007 to 5 Star Silver Award for our friendly customer service, standard of accommodation and wide choice of Breakfast Menu. The locals who own the accommodation are great hosts and will do their best to ensure you have the best stay possible. Most importantly is the secure bike storage available for your piece of mind to enable you to have a good nights sleep for the next days riding.
Also 5 star graded, Tyas Cottage is in the historic hamlet of Merrydale, site of the first water powered mill in the Colne Valley. Near the mill pond and river (with its waterfall), it has its own private terrace, but also has shared access to an exceptional garden (featured in 25 Beautiful Gardens magazine). Recently restored, it combines a barn and cottage, has 3 double bedrooms, one of which contains a magnificent carved mahogany 4 poster bed (Georgian period). It has been accepted to appear in Alistair Sawday's guide to 'Green & organic places to stay across Europe'. There is secure storage for bikes, but this is a self-catering cottage so you will have to make your own breakfast.
